Our Story
In 1994 John Paul Mackie graduated from Strathclyde University and established his first pharmacy in Shawlands in 1999. Here he worked over 65 hours a week for 5 years to learned the pivotal roll his pharmacy could play in improving the health of the local community. This ethos has been extending to his new pharmacies where he is still regularly works as a pharmacist. He went onto expanded the group to 9 pharmacies by acquiring another 8 pharmacies across the Glasgow area.
In 2023 Scott Conlon replaced John Paul as Superintendent Pharmacist to allow John Paul to concentrate on the operation side of the business. John Paul is the Managing Director and Scott is the other Company Director.

Award Winning Pharmacy
John-Paul won the 2021 ‘UK Independent Pharmacist of the Year Award’ at Westminster. This national award was in recognition of the excellent service we deliver

We were also delighted that all our teams were Nationally recognised by the UK Parliament, for their excellent service during Covid, in the form of a unique Early Day Motion

Going from strength to strength the group has went on to win many local and national awards in recognition of the excellent service that our branches deliver. Most recently we won the ‘Best Community Pharmacy Scotland’ awards at the prestigious ‘Global Health & Pharmacy awards 2025’.

Our ‘High Stock Levels’* increase our ability to fill you prescription first time and reduce the need for prescription remainders
*(Our averages stock levels are 33% above the national average i.e. £ 80k compared with the national average of £ 60k)

We have the optimum supply chain using all pharmacy chain suppliers and independent suppliers. This is something the multiples can not do

In addition to our professional body training requirements, we have a tablet based ‘in house training programme’ to ensure that our team are up to date

Throughout the year we support many local charities and good causes. In 2025 we again donated over £15,000 a year.
